Castel San Pietro Terme was once an outpost between Emilia and Romagna, with orthogonal roads flanked by porticoes. Today only a few portions of the ancient walls remain alongside two separate fortresses which defended the town in the past (“Cassero”) and are overlooked by the Clock Tower.

When in town, do not miss the opportunity to visit the Church of the Santo Crocefisso, whose bell-tower boasts an original carillon made of 55 bells, and the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore.

There are many medieval towns nearby, including: -Dozza, a small centre known for the “Muro Dipinto” a Biennial Art Exhibition of Modern Art, when artists come from all over the world to paint the walls of the town. - Faenza, with its precious ceramics. -Castel del Rio, with its remarkable Alidosi bridge, a real engineering masterpiece over the Santerno River.
